Everything To Do With Skin Wrinkles

Wrinkles on our skin certainly need no introduction mainly serving as daily reminders that we are indeed aging. Be that as it may, there are many wrinkle reduction treatments to help get rid of them and leave you with young-looking skin.

What Causes Wrinkles?

There are many factors that contribute to wrinkles on our skin and we will have a look at the most common ones:

Aging

Aging is the most common and unavoidable one of the lot. Wrinkles are by-products of aging — naturally. As we age, skin cells divide more slowly with the dermis beginning to get thinner and thinner.

The network of collagen and elastin fibers which keep our skin tight begins to fall apart. All these processes cause depressions in the skin surface.

To add to my point, the skin becomes more fragile with oil-secreting glands becoming less efficient which makes the skin less able to retain moisture — giving it a more wrinkled look.

Sun Damage

Extensive exposure to UV radiation can cause aging as well. This aging is referred to as photoaging and is usually premature.

The UV sun rays cause photoaging, which damages collagen and elastin fibers. Collagen makes the skin tight and elastin is responsible for making the skin able to stretch. Without these two key protein components, the skin loses its strength, flexibility and elasticity — which leads to wrinkles.

When UV light damages skin tissue, certain enzymes are produced and these enzymes are responsible for creation and reformation of collagen. During this process however, some healthy collagen fibers are damaged which results in disorganized formation of fibers — in technical terms referred to as solar scars.

This process occurs over and over again which now forms the wrinkles.

Smoking

It is a known fact that healthy skin always regenerates, right? When old collagen is broken down and removed, new collagen is produced and installed. Researchers have concluded that tobacco products cause a reduction in the production of new collagen.

One thing leads to another and the lack of new collagen results in the development of wrinkles.

Another factor may be due to the lack of blood supply to the skin caused by smoking.

Facial Muscle Movements

Lines on our faces are believed to appear due to the underlying muscle contractions — especially the lines coming from the corners of our eyes.

Habitual facial movements like smiling, squinting and frowning cause these wrinkles to become prominent with age.

Wrinkle Reduction Treatments

An effective way of reducing wrinkles is an effective way to regain smoother skin. There are two traditional techniques you can go for:

Dermabrasion

In this technique, wrinkle reduction devices — specifically exfoliating devices — are used to remove the outer layers on your skin. The damaged, outer layers of your skin are removed and your body will respond by creating newer younger skin cells. You know what those do to your skin.

Chemical peels

This other technique involves applying chemical solutions to your face which will make your skin blister and come off. The skin rejuvenation comes in when the top, damaged layer of skin comes off and you are left with clearer and younger-looking skin.

There has been the emergence of other more advanced wrinkle reduction treatments developed to tackle prematurely aging skin. Classic examples are laser skin resurfacing, Botox injection therapy, facelifts and fillers.

Advantages of Wrinkle Reduction Treatment

Reduces Fine Lines and Wrinkles

The first and obvious reason why you need wrinkle treatment is the skin rejuvenation it offers with reduced fine lines and wrinkles.

Skin rejuvenation encourages the growth of collagen which helps the skin become fuller and a lot more youthful.

Improved Acne Scars

Acne scars are something these wrinkle treatment procedures can take right off your skin. They appear as permanent indentations on the skin.

Upon administering treatment from wrinkle reduction devices, your body produces collagen in that area which fills in the scar depression to give you young looking skin.
